How to sell your music at Upbeat Cafe'

1) First Things First.

    CD SALES:

    • We will sell any of your music on CD's both in our store and through our website.

    DIGITAL SALES:

    • We are currently only accepting CD's from artists that currently have produced a CD and have a UPC Barcode attached to that CD. The UPC Barcode needs to be the correct 12 digit code and not the 13 digit code that is most probably an EAN code. We recommend Oasis and CDman if you are looking to produce your CD. Both excellent companies with great pricing (and the ability to add the UPC Barcode).
    • Have a great CD but no barcode? No problem! Email us and we can help.
    • We get a simple contract agreed to ensure that you control the copyright to the music, review the fees and agree that we will distribute your music on your behalf (all that paperwork stuff!).
    • We do all the work and you get some cash.

2) Part 2.

  • We store your actual CD's in our store and use them for both our in-store and online inventory.
  • We make all the digital files and prepare your music for online sales. Don't forget, we can sell entire CD's or individual tracks online.
  • Your music is placed in our online store ready to be purchased by a music-hungry customer!
  • All the sales processing is handled by Upbeat Cafe' (or you may see Downtown Coffee Company, LLC, our parent company, on some paperwork and checks).

3) The Money Bit.

CD SALES:

  • You tell us what you want the CD to sell for.
  • We charge a one time fee of $25 per CD for the set-up in our system.
  • NEW PRICING ON SET-UP FEE: NOW ONLY $10 per CD!!
  • We track sales and provide you with a monthly report, including a check for all music sold that month.
  • You pay no other fees or taxes - we take care of that..
  • ..through our $4 we retain per CD sold.
  • NEW PRICING: WE NOW ONLY RETAIN $3 per CD!!

DIGITAL SALES:

  • Individual Tracks:
  • Individual tracks are priced at $0.99.
  • We charge a one time fee of $10 per individual track for the set-up in our system.
  • NEW PRICING ON SET-UP FEE: $5 per individual track!!
  • We track sales and provide you with a monthly report, including a check for all music sold that month.
  • You pay no other fees or taxes - we take care of that..
  • ..through our fee of $0.40 per track downloaded.
  • NEW PRICING: we now only retain $0.30 per track downloaded.
  • CD's:
  • Real CD's (which are also available in our store), for customers who prefer the real thing versus the download version, are handled the same way as the digital downloads.
  • You just provide us with 6 CD's. 5 are for inventory and 1 is added to our in-store playlist for promotional purposes.

4) The Next Part.

  • Once we sell the 5 CD's we have in stock we will request more with a check for the first 5 (minus our fees, of course).
  • There are no other set-up fees.
  • Should you choose not to continue we will return any unsold CD's, or you can decide just not to send us another set of 5, email us and we'll leave it at that.
  • For digital versions, we just pull your music from our database. It's that easy!

5) The Legal Bit.

  • This is a non-exclusive deal - you can do whatever you like with your music to get it out to the most people - it's your music afterall! (We will consider being the exclusive distributor of your digital media should you wish. Email us for more information)
  • You maintain your legal rights to the music, by signing-up to our little deal, you are just giving us permission to sell and distribute your music on your behalf - just like any other music store.
  • YOU MUST OWN OR CONTROL THE COPYRIGHT FOR THE SOUND RECORDINGS AND MUSICAL COMPOSITIONS. If you don't you need to secure those first and pay any royalties of fees associated with the music.
